Organizations that use approvals can choose whether broadcasts need approval too. It's off unless an admin turns it on, because broadcasts are usually urgent.
Turn it on
An admin or owner turns it on in Settings, under Approval:
- Tick Changes by editors need approval before they reach screens.
- Tick Broadcasts need approval too.
- Select Save settings.

As an editor
With broadcast approval on, the Start a broadcast panel says "An admin approves broadcasts before they go live." and the button says Submit for approval.
- Fill in the broadcast as usual. See Send a broadcast.
- Select Submit for approval.
Your request appears under Waiting for approval on the Broadcasts page. To take it back, select Withdraw. If an admin turns it down, it shows Not approved with their note for a day.
As an admin or owner
Your own broadcasts always go live straight away. Editors' requests appear on the Approvals page with a count in the menu, and under Waiting for approval on the Broadcasts page with a Review link.
- Go to Approvals.
- Select Preview to see what screens will show.
- Select Approve to put it on screens now, or Reject to turn it down with a note.
The time the editor chose under For starts when you approve it, not when they sent it.
