Most calendar problems come down to the link or to timing. Find your symptom below.
Errors when adding a calendar
| Message | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
| "Paste the calendar's iCal address. It starts with https:// or webcal://." | The link is missing or starts with something else, such as http://. Copy the link again. |
| "That address didn't return a calendar. Use the iCal (.ics) link, not the web page link." | You copied the web page (HTML) link. In Outlook, copy the ICS link. In Google, copy the Secret address in iCal format. |
| "The calendar address answered 404. Check that the link is the published (iCal) address." | The link is wrong, expired or was unpublished. Publish the calendar again and copy the new link. A 401 or 403 means the calendar isn't shared publicly. |
| "Addresses on private or internal networks aren't allowed." | For security, CompleteVantage only reads calendars from the internet, not from servers inside your network. Use your Microsoft 365 or Google link. |
After fixing the link, open the calendar with the pencil button, paste the new link into iCal link and select Save and check.
The board says "Choose a calendar for this zone."
The layout's calendar zone has no calendar selected. Open the layout, select the calendar zone, pick one in Calendar and select Save layout.
The board shows no meetings
- Go to Calendars and check the calendar's line. If it says "Couldn't read it:", fix the link as above.
- If it says "0 upcoming events", the calendar really is empty for the next two weeks, or the meetings aren't in the published calendar. For a room, check you published the room's calendar, not your own.
- On a room board, all-day events are ignored and Later today only lists today's bookings. Use an agenda to see more.
A new booking doesn't show yet
CompleteVantage checks each calendar every five minutes, and screens fetch updates every five minutes, so a change can take up to about ten minutes. Outlook and Google may also take a while to update a published calendar. To speed things up, select Check now on the Calendars page.
Times are an hour out, or in the wrong timezone
- Boards show times in the screen's timezone. Check the screen's Timezone on its page. See Screen settings.
- If only some meetings are wrong, check the timezone set on those meetings in Outlook or Google.
Every meeting shows "Busy"
Either Show meeting titles is turned off, the meetings are marked private, or the calendar was published with availability only. See Keep private meetings private.
Meeting titles show a person's name
Microsoft 365 room mailboxes replace the subject with the organizer's name by default. An admin can change this. See Get the iCal link from Outlook or Microsoft 365.
The screen was offline
Screens keep the last events they received, so a room board keeps working through short outages. It catches up once it's back online.
