A screen can have content from several places at once: a broadcast, schedules, its own content and its group's content. This article explains which one it shows, so you can predict what's on screen.
The order
Every screen checks these in order and shows the first one that applies:
- A broadcast. A live broadcast for this screen, its group or all screens takes over everything. If more than one is live, the newest wins.
- A schedule. A schedule whose days, times and dates match right now. If several match, the highest priority wins, then the most specific target (one screen, then a group, then all screens), then the one created first.
- The screen's own content. What you chose under What plays here on the screen's page.
- The group's content. The default content of the screen's group. If that group has none, the group it sits inside, and so on up.
- A clock. With nothing else to show, the screen shows the time, the date and its name.
Example
The Café menu board screen in Bayside Hotels' London group has:
- its own content: the playlist Café specials
- a schedule, Breakfast menu, for this screen on weekdays from 06:30 to 10:30
- a schedule, Evening loop, for the group London, every day from 18:00 to 02:00

The screen decides for itself
Each screen keeps a copy of its content, schedules and broadcasts, and works out what to show on its own, in its own timezone. It checks again every 15 seconds. That's why schedules keep working when a screen loses its internet connection.
It also means changes need to reach the screen. A screen that's online picks up changes within a minute. An offline screen keeps following what it last received. See Offline behaviour.

- On the screen's page, the picture and status line show what it's playing, such as "Schedule: Breakfast menu".
