Deleting media removes the file for good. So that no screen suddenly goes blank, CompleteVantage won't delete anything that's still in use. In this article you'll find where an item is used and delete it.
You'll need: the editor, admin or owner role.
See where an item is used
- Go to Media and select the item.
- Near the bottom of the dialog, read the line that starts Used in:, for example: Used in: Playlist "Lobby loop", Layout "Café menu".
If it says Not used anywhere yet., you can delete it straight away.
Things that count as a use:
- a screen or group that shows it directly
- a playlist that includes it
- a layout zone that shows it, or uses it as the background photo
- a schedule that shows it
- a broadcast that's live now
Delete an item
- Open the item.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm with Delete. The file is removed from the server. This can't be undone.
If the item is still in use, you'll see a message such as: "Summer menu" is still in use: Playlist "Café specials". Remove it there first.
Remove it from where it's used
- Playlist: open the playlist, select the × on the item's row, then Save playlist.
- Layout: open the layout, select the zone and choose another item (or Nothing), then Save layout.
- Screen or group: on the screen's page, under What plays here, select Change and choose something else.
- Schedule: edit or delete the schedule under Schedules.
- Broadcast: end it under Broadcasts.
Then delete the item.
With approvals turned on
If your organization uses approvals and you're an editor, deleting an approved item sends a request. You'll see "Delete request sent for approval. Screens keep showing it until an admin approves." See Work with approvals.
